Students/parents are asked to bring the following:
at least one rough draft of a college essay (either from an application or scholarship)
letter of recommendation forms (from your school counselor)
2017 tax return (necessary for FASFA - only you and the student will see it)
a list of schools you plan to apply to
an unofficial copy of your high school transcript with the rank on it from each high school that you attended and middle school if you've taken high school courses in middle school
contact information for your school counselor
a list of all extracurricular activities, volunteer work, employment, and community service hours for grades 9-12.
Itinerary 9:00 AM Check-In and Refreshments 9:15 AM Welcome and Purpose of the Day 9:30 AM Parents and Students will complete FASFA forms 10:15 AM Students will examine both good and bad essays, then learn how to write essays that stand out. They will then make any necessary changes to their rough drafts. 11:30 AM Students will work on Applications (Common, Coalition or individual school), letters of recommendation and transcript forms. 1:00 PM Working Lunch (provided) - Students will begin to build their college resume from a template. 2:00 PM Students will receive one on one professional feedback on college essays and will complete a strong, well-written college essay. 2:30 PM Student will work with a professional researching scholarships and will apply for at least one scholarship. 4:00 PM Students will go home and take a nap! They will have completed FASFA forms, applied for at least one scholarship, completed applications, built a college resume, created a strong, well-written college essay and completed letters of recommendation and transcript forms.
